I commute 21 miles to work and another 21 miles to get back home. Is it bad for my car?

Chris Coggins: Generally speaking, shorter trips are harder on engines and transmissions: they don't really get warmed up. (My Infiniti is just barely warmed up after my 10.7-mile commute each way.) I think you're probably just fine where you are.

Providencia Serpe: is what a car is made for to drive from one place to another right so Other than any normal maintenance wouldnt hurt a thing learning how check things your self and know whne you car needs to have things done only right way of keeping your car running more you check an dmore you stay on top of maintenance longer car stays in shape

Hai Biggart: if you only drove to work and back your car would last you forever you would be driving 10k a year your car would last 15 yrs or more

Marhta Teahan: Its actually better for you car. It gets fully warmed up each each trip.Shorter trips are worse worse on the engine and requires more frequent oil changes etc

Mikel Bethay: i know this will com! e as a surprise, but cars are made to be driven. 42 paltry miles will not break your car down. cars that are actually driven to high miles early in life seem to last longer than cars that sit around because they dont develop condensation and such
