Bettye Arre: Yes, you can use the Tivo with your current cable system. The coax from the wall goes to your cable box. Either coax or the a/v cables come out from the cable box and go into the Tivo. Another set of coax or a/v cables go from the Tivo to your TV. Your TV should stay on channel 3 or 4. You probably have infra-red cables for the Tivo to control the cable box. Plug those into the Tivo and set it up so the cable box will be able to see the infra-red light signal from the Tivo in order to change channels.Once that is setup, I would recommend you go into the Tivo main menu. Go to the "restart or reset system" menu so you can "clear and delete everything". You can now set it up for your own cable system. If your cable system offers video on demand or any other type of on screen things, I have a word of warning. If you are watching a VOD/PPV program when a scheduled recording starts, the Tivo will change the channel to the program but will only record whatever you a! re viewing on VOD/PPV. It will not record the scheduled program....Show more
