Shan Lanen: There's not just one position where this shot is possible and it will change depending on the table conditions. A good place to start is put the ball on the spot (2 diamonds out from the short rail, on the long centerline of the table; like in the video below). Aim at the long rail about 1/2 a diamond up from the corner pocket with running english (if you're aiming to the right long rail, use left english). You don't need much english, but try to be consistent with how much you use so you can make adjustments easier. If you end up hitting the long rail by your intended pocket, move the cue ball closer to the long rail that you're aiming at in 1/4 diamond increments.Once you find the right spot, you can actually move the cue ball along your aim line and still get the same result, if you want to put it closer to the short rail to start with....Show more
